Droid Incredible 2 Now Available

To join the Droid X's refresh the popular Droid Incredible 2 also joins Verizon's cramped party. The phone sports a top-of-the line single core 1GHz processer and is noticeably faster than older processors. The Incredible 2 sports the same topographic design but is more toned down and is, in our opinion, much more sophisticated. The four light up capacitive navigational buttons also turn depending on the orientation of your phone, something that has not been implemented before. The Incredible 2 is also slightly larger and upgrades to a 4 inch Super LCD display which certainly deserves acknowledgement. However, like the Droid X2, the Incredible also lacks LTE. Pick it up today from Verizon for $200 on contract.

Windows Phone 7 Mango Update

Windows Phone 7 is issuing another update, boasting 500 new features. Chief among them include better support for livetiles and better integration of hubs and services such as Twitter and Facebook. Also, Bing Vision allows you to take a picture of barcodes, or published material and easily cross-shop products. Alongside Mango, Microsoft is launching a web app store as well, similar to the one Google recently launched. Mango will be one of the first "fruits" of the Microsoft-Nokia relationship as well, and will be present on Nokia's WP7 handset debut.

Verizon's Red Army

Verizon is bringing major power to its smartphone lineup with FOUR new smartphones. The LTE LG Revolution is a fairly run-of-the-mill (not that revolutionary) single core smartphone for $250. The previously reviewed Droid X2's dual cores and qHD (960x540) display is available for just $200, though you sacrifice LTE. The last android handset is the Sony Xperia Play, with its gamepads and playstation certifications at $200. The first Windows Phone 7 device is now on Verizon, known as the HTC Trophy which packs a nice package neatly tucked into a 3.8" screen size at just $150. Droid X2 Now Available

The beastliest of the Droids just got a sibling. The Droid X2 gets an extra 1GHz core to compete with the other recent dual core beasts. The screen also gets an upgrade to qHD (960x540) from WVGA (800x480) but stays at a generous 4.3 inches. The same 8MPX camera hump also remains. The general design seems to be more or less the same, however, leading us to gravitate towards saying the Droid X2 seems to be more of a refresh than a true sequel. Another strange oversight seems to be the lack of LTE. Take the "X2" moniker as two cores (Like the G2X), not as a sequel to the Droid X. Nonetheless, the Motorola tainted Froyo packing X2 is available from Verizon for $200, same as before.

BlackBerry Playbook

The BlackBerry Playbook is now available. The dual core 1GHz businesses minded tablet matches both the iPad 2 and the Motorola Xoom in brawn but is a 7-incher as opposed to the more popular 10-inch form factor. The Playbook sports a commanding, sophisticated shell that reeks of enterprise and makes you wonder what the word "play" is doing in its name.

Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series

The Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series is now available and is definitely the most unique netbook available. Its trademark sliding mechanism is reminiscent of a giant smartphone with a full qwerty keyboard. However, the tilting screen is 10 inches wide and would make a huge smartphone. The slide out keyboard nonetheless transforms the 7 series from tablet to netbook and back again. The one feature that distinguishes this from other tablets? It runs Windows 7 Home Premium. And it runs it well courtesy of a 1.5GHz Oak Trail processor along with 32GB of flash memory and 2GB of RAM. It can be yours now for "just" $649 for pre-order on Amazon.
