iPhone 4S announced, Sprint in on the fun

The iPhone 4S has been announced and is seen by many as a major disappointment because there have been no design changes. The processor has been predictably upgraded to the Apple A5 dual core chip. The antennae has been improved and camera optics has been improved and is now of the 8mp variety. The iPhone 4S also now supports 1080p video recording. The CDMA and GSM bands have been combined in the iPhone 4S to form a world phone capable of roaming on a variety of networks. Most other specs remain the same. The iPhone 4S also has a built in personal assistant named Siri which intelligently discerns meaning from requests and displays useful information such as weather, stocks, directions. Siri will also send texts, emails and support dictation. To activate Siri, hold down the home button. The iPhone 4S will be available on October 14. It will ship with iOS 5. Sprint will join AT&T and Verizon in carrying both black and white iPhone 4S units starting at $199 for 16GB. While not a revolutionary change, the iPhone 4S represents an incremental step in the right direction and is a solid upgrade for those looking for a contract extension. While it doesn't claim to change everything (again), yes, it is the most amazing iPhone yet. More pictures after the break.

The homepage of the Apple website has been replaced by a picture of Steve, in his memory. Clicking the picture reveals a short paragraph that sums it up best.

Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.
